Drew's Turn to Swim!

Drew is so excited to finally have his turn in the pool. We've been watching Reese from the lobby viewing area and he would stand at the window wanting so badly to go in. He absolutely loves the bath and he's a natural in the water. It's crazy - he dunks his head and almost wants to do a somersault. It's so much fun to spend this one-on-one time with him... He loves the balls, but never wants to actually drop them in the bucket. He's even going down the slide by himself, seems crazy -- my little guy is growing up too fast. He's also learning to blow bubbles in the water and float on his back with support. Reese loves having us in the pool at the same time - his class is right next us. I was a little slow to sign-up because it meant getting Reese, Drew and myself all dressed and ready before and after class. It's not too bad with the warmer weather here and less clothes to worry about....

Early Birthday Present for Reese

Reese got his own real golf clubs last weekend as an early Birthday Present. Gabe surprised him by taking to the golf course and golfing with his new present. Lots of pictures... Reese had a blast and thought it was the best thing ever. Reese and Dad practice quite often in our backyard with birdie balls. Reese is always asking to play and is learning to hit the ball pretty well. He keeps telling me there are some white clubs that are "just your size mom!" He wants me to play so bad - it's so sweet and I'll have to take up golf so I can keep up with these boys. It'll be a fun adventure I'm sure...
This weekend we are celebrating with a party and BBQ - he's so excited have a dinosaur themed party.
By the way, the little scratch on his forehead is from a little fall off of the swing - ouch. Luckily he wasn't really swinging - just trying to get on, but it still looked pretty bad for a few days.

Drew's first trip to the zoo

We ventured out to the zoo Sunday morning, right at opening time to beat the rush. It was Drew's first experience and he seemed to enjoy it. Maybe a little overwhelmed, but he didn't get scared by anything. I wasn't sure how he'd react because he is really quite scared of dogs. I would have to say his favorite was the aquarium and the penguins. Reese had a great time watching the gorillas, Drew didn't know what to think of those big guys (if he's scared of dogs, what must he think of a gorilla, right?). It was pretty cool because one was eating carrots right in front of the glass so we could all get a close view of him. I probably said this before with Reese, but it's so great to experience the zoo through the eyes of kids. It was a fun and busy morning and they both fell asleep in the car on the way home.

swinging

On Saturday, Dad, Uncle Dane, and our friend Bryan brought over this swing set for the boys. It was in Dane's backyard and since it wasn't being used over there, he offered to bring it here for Reese and Drew. They are having a ball with it. Drew got a new toddler swing for his Birthday and absolutely loves it. He gets so relaxed and mellow.... Reese loves riding the horse swing and is the opposite of mellow and relaxed while riding that one. It's a fun addition to the backyard and already we've spent so much time on it...

It's just Reese...

I happen to catch Reese mid-swing as he is beating, who knows what really, with his shovel. It captures his level of enthusiasm so well - I just had to share. I love the bent leg to give him that added "umph"... If only I could have half of the energy this guy has. I've recently decided what profession he most likely should go for given his early wake time and lack of need for sleep. Early morning news anchor - seriously. Don't those guys have to be to work at like, 4:00 am? Reese would have no problem with that schedule. I'm really starting to wonder if he'll ever sleep in...
