Flying solo...

Reese has officially graduated from the "mommy & me" swim classes and is now in a class of 3. It all started out just fine. His friend, from our previous swim class, Charlotte (in the middle) took him by the hand and led him into the pool area. It was so sweet and Reese was excited. I managed to get these pictures before the fear set in. Once he noticed I had left to go to the viewing area behind the glass, he got a little scared. So back in Drew and I went to do a little (okay, a lot) of reassuring. He managed to get through the class with Miss Lori helping him one-on-one. They were so good to him and made him feel much better. On the way home in the car when I asked him about swim lessons, all he said was "cried". He was fine by then eating his sucker reward they give out at the front desk. Hopefully next week will be a little bit better - I'll keep you posted...

The last picture is one of 20 attempts of me trying to get a good picture of Drew smiling. He really does smile quite often, I just can't seem to capture it on film.

Memorial day weekend

This weekend the pools were officially open and summer began. We went swimming at least once everyday this holiday weekend. I must say it's much easier this summer as Reese can pretty much handle himself in the baby pool, being tall and coordinated enough to walk around in the water. Of course, we are very close-by to supervise: One, for obvious safety reasons, and two, because this child has no fear. He would dive right in if we let him. Meanwhile, Drew pretty much slept and relaxed in his car seat... He enjoyed a couple of naps in mom's arms and the occasional "toe dip" in the water for some stimulation. To wrap-up the weekend, we had some friends over to barbecue. I wish I had some pictures, because Reese and Hudson were quite smitten with each other. Hugging and kissing like crazy teenagers. They are only 3 weeks apart and she is quite the cutie with her big blue eyes... Reese is a lucky boy!

What's new in Drew's world... He is growing like crazy. He's a happy baby, smiling and cooing all the time. He actually laughed for the first time on Mother's day, it was so sweet. He also started to roll over a couple weeks ago. Just changing everyday.... Reese has actually turned a corner as well. Loving and kissing on Drew, showing much more affection than before. This really just started the past week or two. Let's hope the love fest continues...

Summer is here

The warm days of summer are finally here - today it was almost 90 degrees. It was hot and windy, but we'll take it. We spent quite a bit of time outside today and Reese experimented with one of his new Birthday toys. I am finally just starting to accept the fact that Reese is very much a boy and anytime we are outside (or inside really) he is going to get filthy dirty.... Whether it be dirt, sand, or water. He will literally just grab handfuls of mud and wipe it on his face, mouth, clothes... you name it. It makes me crazy and clean-up is a nightmare, but I will let him be a boy and just have fun with it. We will just enjoy the innocence of childhood... It goes by too fast!

Drew's Baptism

Drew was Baptised Saturday evening at St. Pius the tenth. Even though we are new to this Parish, it felt very personal and unique to Drew. Needless to say, it's a very special occasion and the first big event for a baby. I was emotional at Reese's and I very much felt the same way for Drew. My best friend, Sara, was a Godparent for Drew. She was so kind to come from Minnesota to take part in the ceremony. It meant a lot to have her, along with our family, present. God Bless our little baby boy...

Brothers...

Reese is definitely becoming more fond of his new little brother. However, he will pester poor, little Drew occasionally in the car by threatening to pinch him. Although, I think he is more trying to get a rise out of me rather than actually hurt Drew. I really hope they are good friends someday...

Happy Birthday!

Well, our little (big) guy turned two years old on Friday... I can't believe it's been two years! At the risk of sounding corny, we have been so blessed with having Reese in our lives. He can be so ornery one minute and so darn sweet the next...

He was recovering from a cold on his actual Birthday, so it worked out well that his party was scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Great weather as well, after several days of rain, we had a warm, sunny day. He had a fabulous time celebrating with family and a few friends. He also had some special requests for his party: Party hats, balloons, cake, ice cream. He was showered with some pretty great presents too! Happy Birthday Reese! : )
